AHUON Signs MoU with NIPC to Attract Investment into Nigeria's Hajj & Umrah Sector
The Association for Hajj and Umrah Operators of Nigeria (AHUON) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), marking a new chapter in the development of Nigeria's pilgrimage services industry.
The signing ceremony, held at the NIPC headquarters in Abuja, was attended by the AHUON National President, Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar Ibrahim, and the Executive Secretary of NIPC, Ms. Emeka Offor-Eze, along with senior officials from both organisations.

"This partnership is about positioning Nigeria's Hajj and Umrah sector as an investable, bankable industry," said Alhaji Mukhtar Ibrahim. "We have world-class operators who need access to structured financing, infrastructure support, and regulatory backing — and NIPC is the ideal partner to help unlock that."
Under the terms of the MoU, NIPC will provide AHUON member operators with priority access to investment facilitation services, including assistance in attracting partner hotels, transport companies, and hospitality infrastructure developers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
AHUON will in turn provide NIPC with a comprehensive directory of licensed Hajj and Umrah operators across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, enabling targeted investor matching and due diligence support.
The signing is expected to catalyse a new wave of structured foreign direct investment into the Nigerian pilgrimage sector, which currently facilitates the travel of approximately 95,000 pilgrims per year.
